1b928cb7f30091018500aac33d1e789dDurham based firm Avoca Consulting Engineers is celebrating the completion of a £14m project to create a new state-of-the-art teaching block for a high school in West London.

The new three-storey facility at Elthorne Park High School in Ealing which commenced on-site in May 2016 is in the very final stages and will be ready for students in September 2017.

The new building includes a multi-purpose performance and activity apace, extended library facilities, additional Sixth Form teaching and study space.  The English, Mathematics, Business and Computing departments will also be housed in the new building.

Avoca Consulting Engineers were employed to undertake the detailed co-ordination and production design from RIBA Stage 2, through to completion including full BIM updates, Thermal Modelling and Energy Performance Certificates.  Working with LJJ as the MEP sub-contractor, main contractors; Balfour Beatty and architects; Reformat.

To achieve a very challenging programme, the design team made full use of the latest BIM (Building Information Modelling) software and off-site manufacturing.  From the outset of the design process the mechanical and electrical services and structural system, were fully integrated into a three-dimensional CAD model.
