Portobello Trade Park-1

Multi-disciplined Building Services Engineers Avoca Consulting Engineers is delighted to see its designs being realised on the £7m Portobello Trade Park scheme next to the A1(M) at Birtley – a project which will transform 6.5 acres of the brownfield site into 15 light industrial units specifically for SME’s.

The scheme, designed for Ravensworth Property Developments LLP by InArchitecture, will provide 100,000 sq ft of prime light industrial/warehousing space to respond to the lack of high quality stock available for new and expanding SME's.

As mechanical and electrical engineers and sustainability consultants on the scheme Avoca are working alongside the main contractor Robertson Construction and mechanical and electrical contractor Kennedy Services.

Avoca’s managing director, Mark Hooper, who is leading on the Portobello project spoke about his delight that the project is progressing successfully. He said: “the project is now well underway and it’s great to see the transformation that has been made. Our dual role providing both detailed design services and BREEAM assessor has made the process much simpler and seamless for all concerned - with the particular focus on achieving BREEAM Excellent standard for sustainable development".

Completion is anticipated for early summer where the units will be ready for occupation.
