Clavering View3 redWork on new purpose built student accommodation is gathering pace, according to mechanical and electrical consultants Avoca Consulting Engineers.

The development at Clavering Place, will transform the historic and disused site located adjacent to Newcastle Central Station creating a new residence for over 209 students.

Avoca Consulting Engineers are employed to provide detailed Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing design services on the stylish seven-storey building consisting of a mix of cluster flats of 5 and 6 bedrooms, and studios.

Each cluster will have a dedicated kitchen/lounge/dining room and all rooms are generously sized with en suite shower pods. The accommodation is targeted at post graduates, international students and returning students.

The dilapidated site has been archaeologically investigated with a rewarding number of interesting Roman artefacts discovered, further preserving the rich history of the area.

The scheme has been designed by local architects Intersect Architects on behalf of Gilltown Ltd with Robertson Group as the appointed contractor.

Managing Director at Avoca Consulting Engineers, Mark Hooper said: “It’s great to be involved with another prestige scheme in the North East and we are delighted to be working with Intersect and Robertsons again".

The development is programmed for completion in July 2016.
