Beech Tree Care Home 1r

Durham-based firm Avoca Consulting Engineers is celebrating becoming part of the design team on a flagship centre in Northumberland.

The £10m state-of-the-art facility, soon to be on-site, will include an 88-bed centre for those with brain injuries, dementia, continuing health care needs and EMI (Elderly Mentally Infirm) and nursing needs, all under one roof for Prestwick Care – part of the recently restructured Malhotra Group.

The development, which will replace the former Alnwick bus depot, will also include a range of facilities including a roof garden, hydrotherapy pool, cinema room, fitness room and a hair salon.

Named as Beech Tree House the facility will become the flagship home for the firm’s care division which already has a 10-strong estate around the North East.

Mark Hooper said: “This is a great scheme to be involved with - having extensive knowledge of the client's requirements from previous projects we have completed with them over the last 4 years. It is also a great opportunity to work with _Space Architects for the first time.

The development is due on site soon and due to complete in approximately 18 months.
